Compared to the last sale three weeks ago, steer calves under 700 lbs sold 40.00-50.00 higher, and steers over 700 lbs sold 8.00-20.00 higher. Heifer calves under 650 lbs sold 20.00-30.00 higher, and yearling heifers sold mostly steady. Demand was very good for the first sale of the year, and buyers were aggressive to fill orders, especially for the steers that saw big gains since the last sale. Supply was heavy, and the quality was very attractive with mostly long time weaned, reputation cattle and fancy loads of yearlings. Slaughter cows & bulls sold $4-$5 higher.
